Knowing your rights as the mover

As with any service you choose to take out you have certain rights and when it comes to booking a moving company in the UK then this is no exception. There are contracts that have to be signed which both the person moving and the moving company will have to stick too. For example there could be binding and none binding contracts for the quote for the move. A binding one means that you only pay the moving company the amount that they quotes whereas a none binding one would mean that the quote could fluctuate and rise.

With anything you sign you have to go through the small print no matter how boring this may seem and even though you have a million and one things to do it is in your best interests if you do read the contract thoroughly before signing your name to it. A signed contract is an agreement.

When it comes to timeframes then these should be adhered too by the moving company and by you. This means that if you have stated you want to move at 10am, it means that you have to be packed up and ready by that time. If you are still packing items at 10.15am and are not ready for the move to commence until say 10.45am then you have broken the agreement and problems will almost certainly arise as moving companies have different moves and could be booked for another after yours.

However the same works when it comes to the moving company being late, they are under contract to be on time. If you book for 10am then this is the time that they will arrive, however if you have booked the packing included then of course this is the time that they will arrive to do the packing and then put your belongings on the moving and leave.

All ethical moving companies in the UK should supply you with the terms and conditions for you to read before you out your signature to paper. Be very wary of any company that does not give you time to go any contracts you have to sign with them. If you do not know what is and is not included, and there can be many exclusions, these are what you are unable to claim for, then you would not know what you were taking on.

Check out the companies website as the majority of time they will give such information as the terms and conditions including the exclusions and you are then able to read them and compare with other companies at your leisure.
